Changing a Few Things

I am cutting out the Karamazov Project in terms of book binding, but will continue to look at life against literature.

If you want to find out what is going on at the Bindery, check out TheAnnotatedPress.blogspot.com

Enjoy!

New Designs & Name Contest

This summer should bring a few changes to the Karamazov Project. First, expect to see a few new lines of journals. Second, I am looking to change the name of The Project. There are several reasons for this, but the main goal is to have something more easily remembered. Ideas for a new name are welcome and I will craft a journal for whoever submits the best new handle.

Solidarity, Simplicity, and Sharing

"...love in action is a harsh and dreadful thing compared with love in dreams. Love in dreams is greedy for imediate action, rapidly performed and in the sight of all. Men will even give their lives if the ordeal does not last long but is soon over, with all looking on and applauding as though on stage. But active love is a labor of fortitude, and for some people too, a complete science."

~Father Zosima in The Brothers Karamazov

Some friends informed the Karamazov Project of a project by Lahash International: http://www.lahash.blogspot.com/ or http://www.eatriceandbeans.com/

For the month of March, Karamazov Project will donate to the Rice and Beans project $5 for every journal sold and will further match up to $5 per journal. Please join as we strive for love in action.

Safiri Salama: Traveling Together in Peace

Kenya is the origin of two favorites: great coffee and Barnabas. I met Kenyan AA poured from a Press Pot at the Division Stumptown in the glorious early years, before New York. Before the Ace Hotel. When Stumptown Belmont was yet to be Annexed. I met Barnabas while studying at Warner Pacific College. I apologize to everyone who has yet to meet Barnabas; he is an absolutely amazing person. I recomend him highly .

Right now, I am suffering withdrawals of Kenyans. Fresh Kenyan coffees have only recently returned to the Portland market (I recommend the Gaturiri Reserve). Barnabas is studying Economic Development at Pennsylvania's Eastern University, currently working in Ghana. Barnabas' love for all humanity as well as for his Kenya has inspired me to help him in his cause.

Until I feel we have made an impact, a portion of all Karamazov Project custom journal sales will be directed toward relief and community development in Africa's developing regions. Also, Karamazov Project will contribute an additional $5 with each commission+donation.

Together in Peace,

Ben

TAB "The story of my life?" I cried, thoroughly alarmed. "But who told you there was such a story? I am afraid there isn't any."
TAB "But how did you manage to live, if there is no story?" she interrupted me, laughing.

Why Karamazov Project?

Dostoevsky's grandest work is recognized for telling the stories of multiple characters, each possessing a clear and distinct voice. KP is interested in story. We have created the Project with hopes that many will write their stories in their own distinct voices.

The narrative continues. Write and visit often.
